What about history? what about philosophy? anthropology? economics?
I think they would all be very useful disciplines for the endeavour of running a state.
Apparently science is the be all and end all of human inquiry.
If you think there is some necessary dichotomy between religion and science, you have a very impoverished understanding of science.
Knowledge is power. Sometimes we come by knowledge we were not supposed to have. But even power of this kind can be used for good.
